BIOGRAPHY
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spent half of my life there. Along with my collaborator and friend, Paul Voudouris, we formed a folk-rock duo, "Spheeris & Voudouris" and performed primarily in clubs and coffee houses around the Midwest for 6 years. After "Spheeris & Voudouris", I created my first recording studio in my mother's basement, where I began to write solo instrumental songs. My third recording out of that little studio, “Desires of the Heart”, was discovered by Columbia Records. I recorded both "Desires of the Heart" (1986) and "Pathways to Surrender" (1988) for Columbia.
In 1987, I moved to Sedona, Arizona where I lived for most of the next 30 years. From Sedona, I created my solo recordings “Culture", "Eros", "Mystic Traveller", "Desires" (remake of "Desires of the Heart"), "Dancing with the Muse" and "Maya", as well as "Enchantment", "Europa" and "Respect" with Paul Voudouris. I also performed live as a singer/songwriter/instrumentalist and recorded three live CDs "Solo Live", "Songbook Live" and "Bridge".
As early back as 1984, I began working with filmmaker, Chip Duncan (of Duncan Entertainment in Milwaukee) and proceeded to score more than 45 of his documentaries, which I still do to this day. One of my soundtracks for Chip's film, "In a Just World", earned me an Emmy for the soundtrack in 2004.
Between 2017-2020, I lived in Spain where I recorded "Motion Pictures" and the "Mujeres al Alba" soundtrack.
I presently reside in Greece where I work in my dream studio creating soundtracks and individual musical tracks in various styles.
Looking back, I am gratified in seeing how my music that originated in a basement in Milwaukee has enjoyed many lives appearing in various summer and winter Olympics, Miss Universe Pageant, numerous daytime tv dramas, several feature films, international news programs, and many live dance and theater productions.
